:: Benscreek Canoe and Kayak Club Projects

Stonycreek Whitewater Park.  The proposed Stonycreek Whitewater Park is complete.  Improvements are planned as of January 2010.  Included will be a constructed 300 yard long “park and play” section, boater change house, pavilions, and much more!

 

Quemahoning Reservoir Whitewater Release.  If all goes well, water could be flowing into the Stonycreek River Canyon soon for whitewater / conservation.  Funding is in place for a necessary feasibility study.  Click Here for an economic impact study supporting whitewater releases from the Quemahoning Reservoir (pdf-123K).

 

Quemahoning Reservoir Area Cleanup.  The Benscreek Canoe Club is one of many organizations partnering with PA Cleanways to keep a section of the Quemahoning Reservoir recreation area free of trash.  Call 814-266-4276 for more information.

 

Faustwell Put-In.  Proposed improvements for river access put-in area on Stonycreek River Canyon.  Plans on hold for now.

 

Carpenter’s Park Take-Out.  Proposed improvements for river access take-out area on Stonycreek River Canyon.  Plans on hold for now.

 

Trolley Trail Feasibility Study.  Click here for a downloadable pdf of the recently completed Trolley Trail Feasibility Study that outlines the potential to connect Johnstown with Windber along an abandoned historic trolley line.  Included in trail plans is a trail bridge over the Stonycreek River into Greenhouse Park overlooking the proposed Whitewater Park.
